After being officially appointed finance minister by Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier and taking the oath of office before the German parliament, Christian Lindner assumed his new duties at the Finance Ministry in Berlin.

One of Minister Lindner’s first official acts was to appoint his two parliamentary state secretaries, Katja Hessel and Dr Florian Toncar. Both parliamentary state secretaries will have offices at the Finance Ministry and, as members of the German Bundestag, will ensure the smooth flow of information between the Ministry and parliament.
