The 17th German-Polish intergovernmental consultations took place on 1 December 2025. The plenary session was attended by German Chancellor Friedrich Merz and Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk, along with government ministers from both countries. The talks in Berlin once again provided a clear demonstration of the close and trusting cooperation between Poland and Germany.

In the run-up to the event, Finance Minister Lars Klingbeil met with his Polish counterpart Andrzej Domański at the Federal Ministry of Finance. Their bilateral conversation focused mainly on financial support for Ukraine and the global minimum tax.

At the consultations, Germany and Poland adopted a joint declaration that forms the basis for cooperation in the coming years and sets three key priorities:

  1. Security and defence
  2. Connectivity, economy and energy
  3. Remembrance
