In Kyiv, Lindner and his Ukrainian counterpart, Sergii Marchenko, signed a joint declaration of intent to intensify cooperation between the German and Ukrainian finance ministries. Key areas of cooperation will include financial markets, customs, and the management and privatisation of government holdings. Germany’s Federal Financial Supervisory Authority and KfW banking group are in an excellent position to provide Ukraine’s finance ministry with practical and targeted advice in the area of financial markets. In addition, the German customs administration is offering study visits to Germany for the purpose of sharing best practices.
During his visit, Lindner held talks with additional high-level Ukrainian officials including Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal, Defence Minister Oleksii Reznikov, State Property Fund Chairman Rustem Umerov, and National Bank Governor Andriy Pyshnyy. These discussions focused on continued support for Ukraine as well as reconstruction.
