The German government is adopting a series of tax measures to support businesses of all sizes during the coronavirus pandemic. In coordination with the highest revenue authorities of the German Länder, the Federal Ministry of Finance has agreed to the swift implementation of tax relief measures for freelancers, self-employed individuals and other entrepreneurs.
Coronavirus Compensation for short-time work
The German government is expanding its short-time work scheme (Kurzarbeit), which provides compensation to certain workers whose working hours have to be reduced. The aim is to provide fast, targeted help if businesses experience work shortages during the coronavirus pandemic.
