Supervision and regulation

Uhrmacher schaut mit einer Lupe in ein Uhrwerk

Like all other countries in the world, Germany has specific regulations for companies that offer financial services. Depending on their business model, some FinTech start-ups can be subject to supervision by the Federal Financial Supervisory Authority (BaFin). Other FinTech companies only need to comply with the requirements of the Industrial Code. In general, we have a regulatory level playing field in Germany – in other words, companies offering the same financial services with the same risks are subject to the same supervision and regulation.
