As part of EU budgetary surveillance, the Federal Ministry of Finance submits an updated Stability Programme and general government draft budgetary plan once a year.

German Stability Programme

Under the provisions of the Stability and Growth Pact, euro area member states must submit their updated stability programmes to the ECOFIN Council on an annual basis. Germany’s Stability Programme provides a comprehensive overview of the federal government’s fiscal and economic policy strategy.

General government draft budgetary plan

The EU budgetary surveillance requires that euro area member states submit a draft budgetary plan for the following year every October. Germany’s plan should provide the general government budget projection for the Federation, Länder, local authorities and social security funds based on current planning.
